Mike Zafiris
Founder and Director The Stylus Awards is the brainchild of Mike Zafiris, founder of Flavor Record Pool. Flavor, the country’s only national DJ network and music service provider, has been at the forefront of Canada’s urban DJ movement for the past 15 years. During that time, Mike has taken the pool from a roster of only 15 local members, and developed it into a 150-member network of the country’s top DJs. Mike has been organizing major urban events for many years, having thrown his annual Flavor awards from 1995 through 2000. He also co-created “The Urban Pool Awards,” a monumental awards event in the urban community which ran from 2002 to 2004. The awards show honoured pool members for their excellence within the DJ community.
David Cox
Director (DJ liaison) David “Click” Cox, is heavily involved in the music industry for over a decade. His experience ranges from starting his own record company, signing artists, marketing for BMG Music, to Universal Music as an A&R; his exposure to International artists is what fueled his passion for DJs. Click has not only represented renowned artists and groups he was also part of a rap group, The Maximum Definitive. They were nominated for Juno and won MuchMusic Video award in 1993. His enthusiasm for the Stylus DJ Awards is shared with Mike Zafiris to recognize DJs with style and taste. Click strongly believes that DJs are the glue that makes music and artists come together, and he’ll be active in seeing this celebrated.
Nigel Ong
Director Nigel Ong, otherwise known as DJ Sin is an active International DJ. His DJ debuts have been seen around the world for the past 17 years. With an interest that spans across hip hop, Old School, Disco, Slow Jams, New Jack and Retro to name a few. Ong is still seen spinning in Toronto’s hippest clubs with requests to spin at corporate events. His spinning has been heard in local radio stations such as CHIN and Flow’s Live to Air. Ong teamed up with Mike Zafiris to build a stronger community presence for Stylus Group, and develop the identity that Stylus Group stands for.
