Toronto, ON; May 9, 2012 – The Stylus Group is proud to announce the performers for the 2012 Stylus Awards sponsored by Pioneer DJ.  On May 28, 2012 in Toronto, the national awards show will kick-off with host TRIXX introducing an incredible slate of performers including Kreesha Turner, Dru, The Airplane Boys, A Game and Hall of Fame inductee Michie Mee.  Produced by four time Stylus award nominee DJ Anchor, a special tribute to late Beastie Boy, MCA (Adam Yauch) will be included in the show.  This tribute will include a performance by the legendary SUPERNATURALZ Crew, who is Toronto’s oldest competing Bboy crew, with seven generations of dancers celebrating their twentieth (20^th) anniversary this year.

In compliment to the stellar list of performers, the following presenters will grace the Stylus Awards stage this year including Devo from Kiss 92.5, Grammy nominated team Bobby and Sammy from Kuya Productions, MMVA nominated Director Cazhmere from The NE Inc., and Mastermind from FLOW 93-5.  For a limited time only, the tickets for this show are available for only $35CND until May 18, 2012 (tickets thereafter will be available for $40CDN) at Ticketmaster.com.

The Stylus Group is thrilled to introduce the world premiere of the Canadian Stylus Cyphers.  Five rap Cyphers will showcase a mash up of talent mixing this year’s artist nominees and rising star emcees from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal; Artist Mixtape of the Year nominees Tona, and Rich Kidd, emerging teen sensation Ras Fresco and Shi Wisdom.  Two Cyphers will be revealed at the Pre-Award Show Nominee Concert on May 27, 2012 during Spinfest Weekend (visit the www.stylusgroup.ca for additional information).  The remaining three will be shown during the awards show on Monday, May 28, 2012.  This exuberant showcase of music and talent alike will be held at the Danforth Music Hall, located at 147 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, ON, M4K 1N2.

Toronto, ON; April 24, 2012 – Drake, Redman, Rick Ross, Big Sean, JRDN and Nicki Minaj are but a handful of artists guided by the Maestro Producers who are speaking at the 2012 It Starts With The DJ conference held in Toronto on May 26^th, 2012.  The conference will feature keynote interviews with Wu-Tang member Raekwon and Toronto rising star rapper JD Era.

Held at the Jackman Hall – Art Gallery of Ontario (317 Dundas Street W.), doors open at 12 noon, with tickets available for $10 CND at the door.  The 2012 Spinfest weekend involves three-days of celebrtory events that include conferences, workshops, tradeshows and parties to name a few, leading up to the big awards show finale on May 28^th!  Hundreds of guests, artists and performers are slated to attend the Stylus Awards, which will also feature special performances and hall of fame inductions.

This keynote discussion will provide a first-hand look into the background and future for Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon’s new label Ice H20, his decisions in signing the label’s first two Emcees; JD Era and Gangis Khan AKA Camoflauge, and what listeners can expect from his new movement.

Wu-Tang Clan member Raekwon will be speaking on the making of his Canadian label ICE H20 Records and what the future holds for developing artists and building careers of the unseen talent from across the country.

Round 3:            One on One – Creating Relationships                                           4:00pm – 5:00pm

Back by popular demand, one hour will be dedicated to the importance of networking.  Each artist will book five minutes with one of the advisors of their choice, and either play their music and receive feedback or advice. Once their five minutes have been completed, the artist will proceed to the next person on his appointment schedule and continue until their entire schedule has been completed.

Toronto, ON; April 10, 2012 – The 7^th annual Stylus Awards presented by Pioneer DJ is a stage for honouring, acknowledging, and supporting great Canadian musical talents from across the nation. This year, the event includes a long list on multi-talented artists, DJ’s, and producers who have been nominated by fans and industry leaders alike for a series of awards and well-deserved recognition.  International comedian TRIXX will return to rock the house once again with big laughs and controversial material to host this year’s show.  The legendary careers of incredible talents Michie Mee and DJ Bunny will be celebrated as they are inducted into the Hall of Fame.

The award nominations are based on a bevy of different genres and with voting submissions now closed and the nominees list signed, sealed and delivered, some talents such as Kardinal Offishall, Melanie Fiona, The Weeknd, Drake, 4 Korners, Charlie Brown, Wristpect, T-Minus, Boi 1da, and Noah “40″ Shebib have been nominated for categories such as the Fan Choice Artist of the year, Fan Choice DJ of the year, and the Canadian Producer of the Year to name a few (a complete list of nominees is listed below).  With today’s announcement many nominees are celebrating multiple nods including DJ Anchor, (Saskatoon) with 4 nominations, and triple nominees 4 Korners (Toronto), Mike Tomas (Edmonton), Charlie Brown (Toronto), Lissa Monet (Toronto), Dames Nellas (Toronto), and Keith Dean (Montreal).

On May 26, 2012 in Toronto, the Stylus Awards presented by Pioneer DJ will kick-off with the 2012 Spinfest weekend, which is a three-day event showcasing the hottest talents in music nationwide and incredible conference speakers.  The weekend of mix n’mingling all lead up to the Awards ceremony as the final premiere event.  This celebratory showcase will take place at the newly      re-designed Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, located at 147 Danforth Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, M4K 1N2.  Tickets are available for $40 CND + service fees at Ticketmaster.ca and will go on sale on Monday, April 16, 2012.

Toronto, ON; February 14, 2012 – Something old and something new collide at the 7^th annual 2012 SpinFest and Stylus Awards. A partner since the inception, Pioneer DJ returns as the official presenter of the national award show.  This exciting night of talent and celebration will be held at a new venue this year, the recently re-opened Danforth Music Hall in the heart ofToronto on Monday, May 28, 2012.

Some of the artists from last year who were able to make the most of this opportunity were Shi Wisdom (LoveSpeak), Reema Major (I’m The One), Famous (All Hail The Kid).

“I was able to get my music directly to the DJ’s early, so when I was looking to push my song later in the year, they were already familiar with it.  In a sense I was already playing catch up because it was getting played on the radio mixshows so it was an easy sell to the Music Directors.  Plus, I was also able to extend its life with countless requests for a professional video, which also gave it more exposure.  This got me more involved in the business aspect of it, and the DJ’s wanted me to succeed at every turn.  I likely wouldnt have had this opportunity without the support of the Stylus Awards and the Who’s Got Next compilation – Thanks Guys!”
